Tis The Season For Shopping

Have you done all your Christmas shopping yet? As we pledged to try to shop small this year we went to two holiday shopping events. We went to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club where there were stands from local favorites like Lana's Loft, Fancy things by Nancy, and The Blue Bungalow among many others. We also went to the Ridgewood Market where there was many locals selling great products from recycled belts made from bike tires (I bought one) to home made dog treats and organic baby clothes.

Shopping at local holiday events or at local stores is a totally different expierence then shopping in the mall. Talking directly to the person that made the items you are about to buy and seeing their face light up when they talk to you about it is something that you can't get at the big chain stores.  I love to talk to people and learn how small the world really is and how connected we are.

Also this week; I took a trip out of NY and landed in Hawley, PA. An extremely cute town with an old fashioned and home-feel charm. While there I checked out a bunch of the antique stores. They were all filled with unique and nostalgic pieces. I picked up a pendant with four colored stones that looked so unique and homemade I had to have it! I also purchased a painted jug that was only $5, but makes flowers look like they belong in a country kitchen! During these snowy days it can be a challenge to get out of the house and shop! But I am so glad we've been able to keep our promise and shop small.

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!
